Our History

Dummit Buchholz & Trapp is committed to defending the interests of hospitals, physicians, long term care facilities and other health care providers in claims of alleged medical malpractice, hospital negligence, nursing home negligence, and elder abuse or dependent adult abuse

The firm dates back to 1975, when it was established by Craig Dummit specifically to defend and serve healthcare providers and the hospital industry. This has remained the firm’s core area of focus for the past 40+ years, over which DB&T has cultivated its reputation as a leader and innovator in the defense of malpractice claims against hospitals or other health care providers, as well as elder or dependent adult abuse cases. Our successful representation of our healthcare clients has naturally led the firm to expand the scope of its practice to also include defense of employment law claims, casualty, personal injury and general business litigation.

We attribute our success to aggressive and imaginative legal defense strategies, combined with responsive, personal, cost-effective service to our clients. Through our years of litigation experience in defending medical negligence claims, we have developed a unique ability to quickly grasp the key details of medical litigation, anticipate plaintiff’s theories of liability and identify the potential areas of vulnerability. We then apply our legal and medical knowledge to properly assess the legal and factual issues in the case, and utilize the initiative, creativity and persistence needed to aggressively defend our clients. We keep our clients involved at each step of the litigation process. From the initial case evaluation onward, we provide our clients with up to date case analysis and defense options so that they can make informed decisions about the most productive, cost-conscious and results-oriented course of action to pursue in each specific case.

With offices throughout California, we can serve your needs in a variety of venues and locations within the Golden State. Our team approach is designed to deliver big-firm results with small firm responsiveness. We value the relationships we have built over the years with leaders in the healthcare industry, and encourage risk managers and claims representatives to contact us at any time (day or night) with any question or issue, big or small, whether case related or not. Our goal is to best serve our clients any way possible.
