Mr. Smith joined Dummit, Buchholz & Trapp's San Diego team after previously completing a clinical externship at the firm in 2019. Mr. Smith proudly represents hospitals, healthcare professionals, and hospital employees in medical malpractice and general liability matters.

Prior to law school, Mr. Smith worked for several years in the non-profit sector, starting an organization devoted to providing early childhood educational resources to families in underserved communities in San Diego County. He has also worked as a case coordinator at JAMS, supporting neutral arbitrators and mediators in ADR administration.

During law school, Mr. Smith was awarded Dean's List distinction, and was a founding member of the Parents in Law School Society. Outside the classroom, Mr. Smith interned at the U.S. Attorney's Office, Civil Division in San Diego. He also volunteered at Legal Aid Society of San Diego, after which he was awarded its “Outstanding Service Award” and inducted into the Pro Bono Honors Society.

In his free time, Mr. Smith enjoys spending time with his wife and son, and their three dogs.
